버드나무도 뽑으면 죽는다(영어) Even willow trees, if pulled out, will die.
When Jin Jin(陣軫) was appointed to a high position by King Wi(魏王), a wise man told Jin Jin as follows:
"Please don't upset people around you. Look at willow trees. They thrive, even if you plant them side ways or upside down, and will even grow if onl y the branches are planted.
Even if ten people plant willow trees and onl y one person subsequently, uproots these trees, not a single tree will survive. How is it that the planting of such a hardy tree by ten people, can be undone by a single person?"
It is difficult to plant trees, but it is easy to uproot them. No matter how good of a job you do, you will certainly face difficulties if there are those who attempt to uproot you or your work.
------------------------------- Please do not make enemies over trivial matters. If you learn to concede or yield things, which you can afford to concede or yield, you can avoid making enemies. You might think that yielding may lead to a catastrophe, but looking back after some time has passed will prove these events to be nothing.
It is written in Myong-shim-bo-gam(明心寶鑑) as follows:
"Give alms to many people(恩義廣施). Your future paths may cross(人生何處不相逢). Do not make enemies(讐怨莫結). It is difficult to avoid them if you meet on a narrow path(路逢狹處難回避).”
During your life, please don't make enemies or speak ill of others. It will come back to haunt you.
