열정과 집중이 천재를..

아담 클라크는 성서 주해를 쓰기 위해 40년을 보냈다.
조지 벤 크로포트는 미국의 역사를 쓰기 위해 26년을 보냈다.
아이작 뉴턴은 새벽 2시 전에는 절대 침대에 든 적이 없다.

헤밍웨이는 자신의 저작 <바다와 노인> 원고를 무려 80번이나 읽고 수정 보완했다.

청각 장애자 베토벤은 한 곡을 쓰고 난 뒤에 최소 열두 번을 다시 고쳐 썼다.

요제프 하이든은 수많은 역경을 극복하면서 일생 동안 800 곡 이상을 작곡했다.

미켈란제로는 <최후의 심판>을 8년간의 고생 끝에 완성했다.

레오나르도 다 빈치는 10년에 걸쳐 <최후의 만찬>을 완성했는데, 때로는 너무 열중하여 식사하는 것도 잊어버렸다.

오스트리아의 자곡가 슈베르트는 작품 수가 많기로 유명하다.
하루는 그가 가수 푀글의 반주하려다가 갑자기 손을 멈추었다.
“참, 좋은 곡이군. 근데, 이렇게 좋은 곡을 대체 누가 자곡한 거지?”
“예,....?”
푀글이 기가 막혔다.
그 곡은 슈베르트가 불과 2주 전에 작곡한 곡이었다.

모든 것을 잊을 정도로 집중해야 한다.

영국의 물리학자 뉴턴은 어린 시절 수학문제 푸는 것을 좋아했다. 뉴턴이 수학문제를 푸는 동안 옆 친구가 그의 도시락을 먹어버렸다.
문제를 다 푼 뉴턴이 도시락을 먹으려하자 빈 도시락이었다. 도로 집어넣으면서 중얼거렸다.

“참! 문제 푸느라고 아까 점심을 먹고 또 먹으려 했네.”
친구가 “이 멍청아, 도시락 내가 먹었어.“

뉴턴은 친구를 바라보며 하는 말이 “어쩐지 배가 고프더라.”

열정을 갖고 집중하지 않고는 되는 것이 없다.

Lessons from the Experience of Carnegie Mellon Graduates Carnegie Mellon graduates are of top group brains in America. Their professional ability is doubtlessly brilliant. Their social promotions to top positions, however, are not so as the graduates of Yale University or Harvard University.

So, Carnegie school spent big sum of funds to study on the why?s of their poor promotion within their respective organizations in comparison with those two schools.

Researchers conducted interviews with the bosses, colligues, subordinates, and the graduates themselves not only in America, but through the whole world.

The findings were simple:
1)Skills and abilities learned from the school education contributed only around 15% to respondents' promotion to the top positions, while 85% come from the ability to live and get along together with others.

2) Three things to keep well were:
A.Proper "mouth visit"-- praising others in his or her absence;! conforting others in time of difficulties; trying to speak out well prepared contents and words.

B.Proper "Hand visit"--writing letters and giving phone-calls considerately to sooth others.

C.Proper "Foot Visit"--visiting others and mingling with them to be good friends.

From this research results, Carnegie Leadership Center came up with kind of dictum for their graduates:

"Enmity should be written on the water, and Good-will on the stone."
"Bad talks will come back as a dagger to you, while praise and recognition for others will as grace."
